Septic Installation in San Antonio, TX
Most of San Antonio is on city sewer, but a great many properties on the north and northwest side are not. We install septic systems for acreage homes, new construction and commercial sites where a sewer connection is not available.
Where San Antonio Still Relies on Septic
Inside Loop 1604, nearly every home and business is connected to a central sewer system. Beyond it, the picture changes. North of the loop, along the I-10 and US 281 corridors and out toward the county line, much of the land is acreage, ranch property and smaller developments that were never served by sewer lines. Many of those properties carry a San Antonio address while depending entirely on an on-site system.
This part of Bexar County is where the city meets the Hill Country. The terrain rises, the soil thins out and limestone sits close to the surface. A septic project here has more in common with work in Comal or Kendall County than with a typical suburban lot, and it calls for the same equipment and experience.

Septic Systems We Install Around San Antonio
- Aerobic treatment systems for shallow, rocky lots where soil is limited
- Drip fields that follow the contour of sloped ground and leave the yard clear
- Conventional systems on tracts with enough suitable soil
- Replacements for older systems on established acreage
- New construction septic for custom homes and builders
Commercial Septic for Properties Beyond the Sewer Line
Growth on the north side of San Antonio is not only residential. Churches, event venues, offices, retail buildings and other commercial properties are often built where no sewer connection exists. These sites produce more wastewater than a home and usually need a larger, engineered system, such as multiple aerobic tanks feeding an extensive drip field.
We install commercial septic systems of this kind, and we handle the site work that goes with them, including clearing, excavation and grading. Bringing the installation and earthwork under one contractor, working directly with the engineer who prepares the design, keeps the schedule tighter and makes coordination with your builder simpler.

Design and Permits in Bexar County
On-site sewage facilities in Bexar County must be permitted, and the county’s Environmental Services office within Public Works administers that program. Texas requires the site evaluation to be performed by a licensed site evaluator and each design to be prepared by a registered sanitarian or professional engineer. We work closely with an engineer we have a great relationship with and will put you in contact with them through our septic design and engineer referral service. The engineer handles the evaluation and design and guides you through the process. If you already have a design, we can price and install from it. We then install the system under our TCEQ OSSF installer license OS0031132, coordinate the county inspections and finish the site. Parts of northern Bexar County also lie over the Edwards Aquifer, which can add requirements to a project. We will tell you early if that applies to your property.
Not sure if sewer is available? Check with your utility provider before you plan a septic system. If a connection is available, it may be required.
What a System Costs
Price depends on the size of the home or building, the type of system the soil allows and how much rock lies beneath the surface. Our septic cost guide explains the main factors. For an accurate number, we visit the property and provide a written quote.
